Our client specializes in life expectancy analysis for life insurance policies, along with providing life insurance underwriting services. With a focus on meticulous data organization, the company operates two Salesforce orgs—one dedicated to insurance policy writing and the other for data organization to initiate policies. The life expectancy calculation org plays a pivotal role, collecting and processing insured client information to determine policy decisions. Additionally, the company utilizes Salesforce tools for document generation, email communication, and policy servicing, ensuring comprehensive coverage of their operations.

The challenge

Our client’s main challenge came with the handling of sensitive data on a daily basis. All information related to life expectancy calculations is private and time-sensitive.

The client was previously working with legacy systems which required complex manual steps to take data from spreadsheets and create PDF documents which could not be easily edited or downloaded. These files, when shared, would then typically expire within a week — highlighting the critical role of Salesforce security.

Beyond that, the intricate nature of the insurance industry requires a deep understanding of premium calculations, grace notices, and the dynamics between insured and insurer.

The client company was in need of a quick learner that could take on their Salesforce data security needs with confidence and flexibility.

The solution

From the beginning, Modelit established excellent communication and trust between the project manager, the project lead, and the client. This consistent communication and follow-up helped maintain a smooth project flow, contributing to the success of the partnership.

A key aspect of our solution was emphasizing a thorough understanding of the client's business processes and data interactions. This approach aimed to prevent long-term errors and ensure the confidentiality of the highly sensitive data involved.

Tools We Used

The project's most challenging aspect stemmed from the nature of private data, which could neither be easily edited nor downloaded. Furthermore, documents created and shared containing said data had a short expiration period.

We started by implementing PDF.co to facilitate the generation of our client’s PDF documents. This tool also allows us to password protect those files. From there, we leveraged Experience Cloud and Service Cloud, with their secure methods of inputting and storing data. These Salesforce tools have been crucial to the success of this ongoing project. This way, we have been able to ensure that strict security protocols are always followed.
